Build strength and capacity for people with disabilities and their families in the target village in Luang Prabang province

The Community-Based Inclusive Development project in Luang Prabang province Phase II (CBID-LPB) is implemented in 20 villages in Chomphet District, Luang Prabang Province, Lao PDR. The project’s objectives are to support improving the quality of people with disabilities lives, to support income generation, and life development activities for all types of disabled people. The project is funded by CBM Global Disability Inclusion (CBM Global).

On July 3-5, 2023, we organized training to build strength and capacity for disabled people and disabled families in target villages to ensure participation in development at the village level and better living conditions for disabled people in Chomphet District, Luang Prabang Province. which has a trainer from the service center for the disabled in Vientiane, representatives from the families of the disabled, self-help groups in 7 villages, and the disabled. A total of 36 people (16 women) participated, including 19 people with disabilities (6 women).

In this training, participants learned about disability, such as the types, causes, and attitudes of the community towards disabled people; the rights of persons with disabilities; and legislation related to the development of persons with disabilities. At the same time, the participants were also allowed to discuss problem analysis, problem solving methods, and planning to develop a participatory community.
