Completion of training on participatory development of people with disabilities and the rights of people with disabilities for village organizations and village volunteers in 20 target villages

The Community-Based Inclusive Development project in Luang Prabang province Phase II (CBID-LPB) is implemented in 20 villages in Chomphet District, Luang Prabang Province, Lao PDR. The project’s objectives are to support improving the quality of people with disabilities lives, to support income generation, and life development activities for all types of disabled people. The project is funded by CBM Global Disability Inclusion (CBM Global).

On June 28–30, 2023, we organized training on participatory development of disabled people and the rights of disabled people for village organizations and village volunteers in 20 target villages of the project in Chomphet District, Luang Prabang Province. with a trainer from the Disability Service Center (DSC) and Participants from relevant parties a total of 35 participants (12 women), including 1 people with physical disabilities.

The training went on for 3 days, with a presentation and exchange of learning between the participants, and each village was asked to draft a village development plan involving people with disabilities so that the participants could learn about disability and diversity in the community; learn about the laws and policies that allow people with disabilities to participate; and gather basic information to prepare a funding plan for the 5 target villages in 2023.
