Monitoring the progress of the activities of the target group in DakXiengAh village
The Participatory Community Development for Livelihoods Improvement and Nutrition Promotion in Rural Areas (LAN) has been implemented by The Association for Rural Mobilisation and Improvement (ARMI) in 30 villages: Atsaphone, Thapangthong District, Savannakhet Province, and DakChueng District, Sekong Province.
In the last week of September 2023, we monitored the activities of the target group in DakXiengAh Village, DakCheung District, Sekong Province. By visiting the family that has been plant crops and non-timber forest products such as: ginseng, pineapple, bamboo shoot, guava, galanga and Indian trumpet flower. which is seen to be starting to grow well, there is no risk of death. In addition to rattan that started to die, because the root broke during transportation, making the rattan seedlings weak.
Also, patrolling the reserve area of the village has seen that there is still a lot of biodiversity and there is no illegal cutting of wood, and there are traces of wild animals. But there were also traces of people coming to collect non-timber forest products and make a trap of wild animals. When that happened, the Village Forestry Committee agreed and planned a new plan with 3 monthly inspections to prevent theft and encroachment of the protected forest.
