Promotion of work for disabled people in Chomphet District, Luang Prabang Province

The Community-Based Inclusive Development project in Luang Prabang province Phase II (CBID-LPB) is implemented in 20 villages in Chomphet District, Luang Prabang Province, Lao PDR. The project’s objectives are to support improving the quality of people with disabilities lives, to support income generation, and life development activities for all types of disabled people. The project is funded by CBM Global Disability Inclusion (CBM Global).

In the 3rd week of September 2023, we facilitated the referral of 6 visually impaired target groups (3 females) from 5 target villages to receive eye treatment (lens surgery) at Chomphet Community Hospital, Luang Prabang Province. Referring the target group to receive eye treatment is to promote eye health treatment for them, to have a better level of vision and help them to participate in the work, participate in various activities in the society more.

Also, in the last week of September, we held a veterinary capacity building training for the target group from 20 villages, at NongJong Village, Chomphet District, Luang Prabang Province. a total of 24 people (2 women), including 8 disabled people. In the activity, we focus is on teaching theory, sharing lessons, and working together to practice vaccination against animal diseases such as hog cholera, foot-and-mouth disease, fowl cholera and others. The objective is to build veterinary capacity for the target group of the project, they will be able to provide animal vaccination and animal treatment services to members and people from villagers when animals get sick in the future.
